The Guardian UK included New Holland park in Saint Petersburg into the list of top-10 most interesting shopping districts of the world. Other attractions include the city of Leiden in the Netherlands, Montmartre in Paris, as well as Distillery district in Toronto, etc. The manmade island in Saint Petersburg has been called “a cool arts hub”.
Guardian Glass was involved in the reconstruction of the park. The island was closed for visitors for almost 300 years. It was reopened only in 2010. It was decided not to erect new constructions on the island and to create a greenfield area instead. All commercial facilities were located in reconstructed historical buildings. They, in turn, were glazed with Guardian SunGuard® SuperNeutral™ (SN) 70/35, which is almost ideal for full glazing of facades and large-size windows. In New Holland the exhibition pavilion is exactly that kind of a construction. This glass is a perfect option for the severe conditions of the northern climate. It helps reach a high level of light transmission and at the same time has a low solar factor. Thus, this glass does not shade the indoor space. In winter the building is not heated yet, but SunGuard SN 70/35 boasts of a special low-e coating and may radically reduce the heating expenses. Once this glass is laminated, it not only becomes stronger and safer, but also provides soundproofing qualities to the indoor space. This way glass creates an atmosphere that is ideal for art exhibitions.
